Ubuntu Global Jam for the Oneiric Ocelot Cycle is coming down the tracks!
This is just a quick update to confirm we haven't forgotten Ubuntu Global Jam which is now less than a month away! Ubuntu Ireland is currently getting everything sorted and hoping to hold face to face UGJ events in both Dublin and Limerick on Saturday the 3rd of September. There is also the possibility that there may be events elsewhere so stay tuned!
Repeating what has been said before:
Ubuntu Global Jam is a great event for many reasons. It is both social and fun with many face to face meetups around the globe where people work and play on an extraordinarily wide variety of ubuntu related topics. People will work on bugs (both reporting and fixing), testing the latest Natty release, documentation, advocacy material and many other things lots of which probably haven't even been considered as of yet.
It represents a great chance to meet other like minded people learn new things and possibly increase your skill set but above all the contributions made during UGJ help Ubuntu!. If you have a Ubuntu related itch that needs scratching then UGJ is a great place to bounce ideas around and get differing opinions and pertinent information to help you progress. If you ever wanted to find out more about the Ubuntu project and how to get involved in any of the project areas then UGJ is a great place to start.
March Ubuntu Hours
Just a friendly reminder that Ubuntu Ireland will be hosting two Ubuntu Hours (UH) in Ireland at the end of March. First up will be UH Dublin (details at: http://bit.ly/eE5VKC ) followed by UH Limerick (details at http://bit.ly/e4YDTD ) .
What will we do to celebrate, Ubuntu 11.04, Natty Narwhals release?
With Ubuntu 11.04, Natty Narwhal scheduled for final release on Thursday the 28th of April, 2011 we should decide on how we plan to celebrate. Initial questions that come to mind are:
1) Will we have a pub based release party or something different?
2) Will we have it on the evening of the release day itself or a different day, such as a weekend day?
3) If so which day?
This is just the beginning. Your views and ideas relating to this would be very welcome feedback indeed.
Ubuntu Global Jam is coming and Ubuntu Ireland will again be part of it.

For this Global Jam it is likely Ubuntu Ireland will be running two venues.
Firstly, TOG, the Dublin Hackerspace have again very kindly agreed to host a meetup for us on Saturday the 2nd of April 2011 between 10am and 6pm. Details of this event can be found at:

you can sign up for UGJ Dublin at:

Secondly, it is very likely that team members in Limerick will be hosting another UGJ get together. Again, this is likely to take place on Saturday the 2nd of April 2011. The venue for this event is currently being finalised. Details of this meetup will be posted on the website and LoCo directory as soon as they are available.
As with all ubuntu-ie events, EVERYONE is more than welcome to attend.
