We are a group of Ubuntu Linux enthusiasts (Ubuntu, Edubuntu, Kubuntu or any other derivatives) promoting personal,
educational and organisational use of Ubuntu. If you're new to Ubuntu, please see Ubuntu.com to get more information.
This group is for anyone in Ireland who is interested in or uses Ubuntu.
Ubuntu Hour returns early in 2012. The first Ubuntu Hour Dublin of 2012 takes place on Saturday 07 Jan 12. Details such as venue and time can be found on the LoCo Team Portal Listing at:
So if you find yourself at a loose end why not pop along to discuss all things Ubuntu and other topics and grab a bite to eat while you are at it!. The guys will have some CDs of the current Ubuntu release to give to anyone who wants one. Ubuntu Hours are very social gatherings and great places to pick up advice and knowledge about Ubuntu. So if you are in anyway curious about this great linux distribution please drop in for a chat during the Hour.
To celebrate the release of Oneiric Ocelot (Ubuntu 11:10) we are partying in a restaurant where ocelots would feel at home! Everyone is welcome to join in the celebrations!
Please register for the party on the LoCo Directory Listing at:
The three great Makerspaces/Hackerspaces, 091Labs in Galway, TOG in Dublin and Milklabs in Limerick will be hosting Ubuntu Global Jam Events on this coming Saturday from 10am.
Full details of these Jams can be found on the corresponding LoCo Directory Listings:
If anyone is free on Saturday 03/09/11 and would like to join the Global Jam hopefully you will be able to make you way to one of these well spread out venues. Remember, everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend and participate. Experience is not a prerequisite!
This is just a quick update to confirm we haven't forgotten Ubuntu Global Jam which is now less than a month away! Ubuntu Ireland is currently getting everything sorted and hoping to hold face to face UGJ events in both Dublin and Limerick on Saturday the 3rd of September. There is also the possibility that there may be events elsewhere so stay tuned!
Repeating what has been said before:
Ubuntu Global Jam is a great event for many reasons. It is both social and fun with many face to face meetups around the globe where people work and play on an extraordinarily wide variety of ubuntu related topics. People will work on bugs (both reporting and fixing), testing the latest Natty release, documentation, advocacy material and many other things lots of which probably haven't even been considered as of yet.
It represents a great chance to meet other like minded people learn new things and possibly increase your skill set but above all the contributions made during UGJ help Ubuntu!. If you have a Ubuntu related itch that needs scratching then UGJ is a great place to bounce ideas around and get differing opinions and pertinent information to help you progress. If you ever wanted to find out more about the Ubuntu project and how to get involved in any of the project areas then UGJ is a great place to start.
